Who am I?
My name is Megan Rae Hammer, and I am a proud 2015 graduating senior at Austin High School, and here are some things about myself.....
I am in the fourth and final year of the Academy for Global Studies program and have proudly lasted for this long. I can honestly say that it is one of my greatest achievements in life thus far due to the rigor that is has presented me with. I have risen to my full academic potential in some areas and I think a lot of it has to do with being part of this program. I have met my family here, and I know that it's where I was meant to belong in this school. I came here after attending Covington Middle School, and when I was enrolled here my freshman year, everything I knew what flipped upside down because the intensity of the classes was harder, the environment was different, and I was separated from all of my friends that went primarily to Bowie High School and Crockett High School. I think that the small AGS family is what I needed. I needed a close knit family where I knew everyone in the small program, and eventually called them friends. Although freshman and sophomore year were harder in the sense of finding a close-knit friend group, I finally found it my junior year.
I will be 18 years old in November, and have lived in two households ever since I was in 5th grade, I have one sibling ; an older sister named Danielle, I am a surrealist as well as a strong believer in expressing the mind through creativity. I am best at making surreal art. I like the idea of making things that are otherwise nonexistent in real life and making things that are interesting for the eye to look at. This is why Salvador Dali is one of my favorite artists because he creates the impossible with his art and I love to look at his work. I am a writer. I love to write fictional stories. I have recently decided that I want to write a novel, but I am just currently undecided about what it is that I want to write about.
